Privacy Policy
How Dot Sexual handles member subscriptions, comments, browser-only calculators, technical logs and aggregate analytics.
Dot Sexual is an adults-only educational publication. This privacy policy explains what personal information the live site processes, how interactive tools on the site work, and the choices readers have.
Information you provide
- Membership and newsletter (Ghost Portal): if you subscribe or create a member account, Ghost stores the email address and optional name you provide so it can send sign-in links and publication emails.
- Member comments: if you sign in as a member and post a comment on an article, your comment and member display information are stored with that post and visible on the page.
- Interactive tools and calculators: selections you make inside the browser-based tools on Tools & Charts run locally in your browser and are not transmitted to or stored as personal health records by Dot Sexual.
- Reader questions: direct question submissions remain closed at the review date below. If a submission route opens in future, this policy will be updated first with the form provider, fields collected and retention rules.
Do not submit personal medical details, test reports, prescriptions, intimate images or another person’s private information through comments or email.
Information collected automatically
- Hosting and security logs: the web server and content-delivery infrastructure process standard technical request data—such as IP address, browser/device type, requested URL and timestamp—to deliver pages, maintain security and prevent abuse.
- Essential Ghost cookies and local storage: Ghost uses necessary cookies and browser storage for member sign-in sessions, comment counts, security and basic site preferences.
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4): the site uses Google Analytics (
gtag.js) to measure aggregate traffic, page views and referral patterns so we can see which guides and tools readers use. You can block analytics scripts using browser privacy settings, content blockers or Google’s opt-out tools without losing access to any article or calculator on Dot Sexual.
How information is used
- to operate, secure and troubleshoot the publication;
- to deliver member sign-in links, newsletters and member comment features you choose to use;
- to understand aggregate readership and improve articles, charts and tools;
- to respond to lawful requests and protect readers, the site and the publisher from spam or abuse.
Sharing
Dot Sexual does not sell reader email addresses or member lists. Information is processed only by the infrastructure and service providers needed to host the site, deliver transactional/newsletter email, provide aggregate analytics or comply with applicable law. Outbound source links lead to independent websites (such as medical journals, public-health agencies and government regulators) governed by their own privacy policies.
Retention and choices
- You can unsubscribe from publication emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or through the member account portal.
- Members can update or delete account details through the Ghost member portal.
- Public comments remain visible on the relevant post unless edited or removed by the member or removed by moderation for privacy, safety or policy reasons.
- To request correction or removal of personal information held in a member or comment record, contact the publisher via the details on About Dot Sexual or Corrections Policy.
Adults only
Dot Sexual is intended exclusively for adults aged 18 and over and does not knowingly collect personal information from minors. Any account or comment identified as belonging to a minor, or containing personal medical or identifying details, will be removed.
